This website is in need of an overhaul. I'm working on it! Until then, I've gone old school and started a blog as a virtual artist's notebook to plunk down instagrams, musings, found inspirations and the odd bit of new work. Please keep checking back here for updates and in the mean time, come on over and visit me at Jen von Williams. Coffee's on.
I'm happy to say I'm back in the studio after a bit of a hiatus, working on some new images to complete (for now) my mind's eye series, we keep it all in. Check it out at the Yukon Arts Centre in March. Nothing like a deadline to make things happen.
Thanks Aline Smithson, creator of Lenscratch for featuring untitled #10 in a recent post.
An alternate take on that image. I still can't decide which version will make the final exhibition cut.
Here's a sneak peek at the Summer 2011 issue of Brain, Child Magazine, cover by yours truly. Look for it at a news stand near you any day now.
Wolves are complicated. They are terrifying. Maligned. Harbingers from some ancient place. I'm good with wolves - one came to me in a dream when I was in a dark place. That's not the case for everyone though.
I keep the wolf from the door
But he calls me up
Calls me on the phone
Tells me all the ways that he's gonna mess me up
Three pieces from "we keep it all in" will be showing at the Launch Projects Gallery's Transplanted exhibit in conjunction with the CONTACT photography festival. Billed as the largest photography festival anywhere, CONTACT exhibitions are hosted by venues throughout Toronto in the month of May. I was thrilled to be selected to participate.
I'm getting ready to send untitled #4 down to the Center for Fine Art Photography in Colorado for the Center Forward exhibition running May 6 - June 11. Think it's going to be a really dynamic show. If you're in Fort Collins, check it out in person, or see it online.
